Tanintharyi River - Tagu

Adventure Tours

Green Scenery on the way to Tanintharyi after rain - there comes a rainbow.

MGZ - TANINTHARYI - TAGU - BOAT RIDING (KAYAKING)

Description

Tanintharyi is an old harbor town about 4 hours up the river from Myeik. We will take the local boat to travel this way like ships did in the times when Myeik and Tanintharyi where under the rule of the Siam. From here all goods had to be transported by land way to the old capital named Ayutthaya in Thailand.

“The boat journey is more interesting than from Mawlamyine to Hpa An on the Thanlyin River."

— Pierre from France

The journey itself has great views and is very relaxing. After our arrival in Tanintharyi we take a look around this ancient town. It seems like time stood still in this town. Long leg wooden houses are in great shape and show the wealth of the town. Teak wood and beetle nut are the main export products. On the way back we go by car through palm oil and beetle nut plantations. Every now and then we stop and get to know the farming process. We arrive back at Myeik in the evening.
